Who are we?

Preserve and Restore is a blog created and maintained by the Historic Preservation and Restoration Student Club at the College of the Redwoods in Eureka, California, a historic sea-side city surrounded by coastal redwood trees and many victorian-era and craftsman-style homes built to accommodate the needs of the logging industry.

Our college offers a two-year degree in Historic Preservation and Restoration Technology (HPRT) as well as a certificate program. These programs focus on hands-on, project-based learning. Students get the opportunity to work on historic buildings in the community and gain a craftsman's attention to detail. We believe we have the responsibilty to history and to our planet to preserve what has already been built where possible and to utilize existing resources, making our field one of the greenest in the construction industry.

Stay tuned into our blog and our Facebook page to see how the Annie B. Ryan house, our field school in Eureka, is coming back to life after being abandoned for nearly 30 years.

Please send any questions our way by emailing us at preserveandrestore@gmail.com
